Cristina De Leon-Culp
Cristina came to Canada in 1995 with a Bachelor of Arts (English) degree and a Bachelor of Laws degree from the Philippines. Cristina was called to the Bar of the Republic of the Philippines in 1989. Cristina worked for five years primarily in the area of labour and employment law as an associate at the Philippine law firm of Siguion Reyna Montecillo & Ongsiako.
Cristina undertook further studies in Canada and in 1996, obtained a Master of Laws degree from Queen's University, after completing an exhaustive thesis undertaking a comparative study of Philippine and Canadian collective bargaining systems and laws. She further took accreditation studies through the University of Toronto and in 1997, received her Certificate of Qualification from the National Committee on Accreditation of the Federation of Law Societies of Canada.
Cristina articled as a clerk for the justices of the Superior Court of Justice, serving over 30 justices from the Central South Region, preparing research and analytical memoranda dealing with issues in family law, evidence, sentencing and commercial law.
After her call to the (LSUC) Bar in 1999, Cristina initially practised as an associate exclusively in the field of family law at Harper Jaskot LLP, a boutique family law firm in Hamilton.
Cristina joined Lefebvre & Lefebvre LLP in 2002 where she has a general practice. She has served as a board memeber for Nova Vita Domestic Violence Prevention Services in Brantford.
Cristina is married to Birkin and they have two sons.
